In his gripping memoir, An American Diplomat Relives 1967 Darkest Days, former American diplomat John Doe provides a firsthand account of this pivotal event. Doe was serving as a political officer at the U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv when the war broke out. He witnessed the conflict firsthand and played a key role in the U.S. government's efforts to mediate a ceasefire.
Doe's memoir is a riveting and deeply personal account of the war. He describes the chaos and terror of the early days of the conflict, as Israeli forces launched a surprise attack on Egypt. He recounts the desperate attempts by the U.S. government to prevent the war from escalating into a wider regional conflict. And he provides a unique perspective on the diplomatic efforts that ultimately led to a ceasefire.
