One Hundred Years of Exile is a comprehensive and authoritative account of the Armenian Genocide, one of the most tragic events in human history. Written by award-winning historian Dr. Taner Akçam, the book draws on a wealth of primary and secondary sources to provide a detailed and nuanced understanding of this complex and controversial topic.
The Armenian Genocide was a systematic and deliberate attempt by the Ottoman government to exterminate the Armenian people. Between 1915 and 1923, over 1 million Armenians were killed or deported from their homes. The genocide was carried out by the Ottoman government in response to the Armenian people's demands for equality and autonomy.
One Hundred Years of Exile tells the story of the Armenian Genocide from the perspective of the victims. Akçam draws on eyewitness accounts, diaries, and other primary sources to provide a vivid and moving account of the suffering endured by the Armenian people. He also examines the role of the international community in the genocide, and the ways in which the genocide has been denied and distorted by the Turkish government.
One Hundred Years of Exile is a powerful and important book that sheds light on one of the darkest chapters in human history. It is a must-read for anyone who wants to understand the Armenian Genocide and its legacy.
