The Ayyubid era was a period of great artistic and architectural achievement in Syria. The Ayyubids were a Sunni Muslim dynasty that ruled Syria from 1171 to 1260. During this time, Syria was a major center of Islamic art and culture, and Ayyubid artists and architects produced some of the most beautiful and innovative works of art and architecture in the Islamic world.
