I was born deaf in a small town in the Midwest. My parents were not deaf, and they didn't know how to communicate with me. They sent me to a special school for deaf children, where I learned to sign and to speak. But I always felt different from the other kids. I was the only deaf kid in my class, and I was often bullied. I was called names like "retard" and "freak." I was even beaten up a few times.

I started to withdraw from the world. I stopped talking to people, and I stopped going to school. I spent most of my time alone, in my room, watching TV. I felt like I didn't belong anywhere. I was too deaf to be hearing, and too hearing to be deaf. I was too queer to be straight, and too straight to be queer. I was just a mean little deaf queer kid.

But then, something happened. I met a group of other deaf queer kids. They were like me, and they understood me. They were the first people who had ever made me feel like I belonged. We started hanging out together, and we started to explore our identities. We went to clubs, we went to protests, and we just lived our lives.

I started to come out of my shell. I started talking to people again, and I started going to school again. I even started dating. I was finally starting to feel like I was a part of the world.

But then, something else happened. I got sick. I was diagnosed with HIV. I was told that I would die soon. I was devastated. I didn't want to die. I had just started to live my life.

But I didn't give up. I started taking medication, and I started going to therapy. I started to fight for my life. I wanted to live, and I wanted to make a difference in the world.

I started writing. I wrote about my experiences as a deaf queer kid. I wrote about my experiences with HIV. I wrote about my experiences with bullying. I wrote about my experiences with love. I wrote about my experiences with life.

I wrote this book because I want to share my story with the world. I want to show people that it's okay to be different. I want to show people that it's okay to be deaf. I want to show people that it's okay to be queer. I want to show people that it's okay to be mean. I want to show people that it's okay to be human.

I hope that this book will help people to understand themselves better. I hope that this book will help people to accept themselves better. I hope that this book will help people to love themselves better.

I am a mean little deaf queer kid. But I am also a survivor. I am a fighter. I am a lover. I am a human being.

And I am here to tell you that you are not alone.
